Village Unveils its Plans to Rework Liberty Square

ELLENVILLE – Glenn Gidaly and Adam Woodburn of engineering firm Barton & Loguidice appeared at the village board meeting on Monday night to present their proposal for reimagining Liberty Square in Ellenville.
"The village applied for some money through Congressman [Maurice] Hinchey," said Gidaly during his introduction to the presentation. "It was an economic development grant a number of years ago. We applied for $300,000 and we got $294,000, so we were close."
The plan calls for several revisions to the layout of Liberty Square, which is just off of Canal Street, and features as its centerpiece the "Boy with the Boot" fountain that has become synonymous with Ellenville. Among the changes will be the addition of "textured…read on

Saturday Matinee Movies Return to Shadowland Theatre in Ellenville, NY
“The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes”, “When Comedy Was King” and
the original “A Star is Born” with Prevues, Comedy Shorts, Flash Gordon Serial
and Cartoon Programs Scheduled for February, March and April Dates

ELLENVILLE, NY, February 3, 2010 - Revisiting its halcyon days as a thriving neighborhood cinema, Shadowland Theatre in downtown Ellenville, NY is inviting Lower Hudson Valley residents to return with them to those golden days of yesteryear for a series of three monthly “Matinees at the The Shadowland” classic movie programs.
Beginning Saturday, February 20, at 2:00 pm with “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes,” starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, “The Shadowland matinees are designed to remind people what going to the movies was all about,” says Brendan Burke, Shadowland’s artistic director. “In addition to a feature film, each Saturday matinee program will have prevues, an animated cartoon, a comedy or musical short subject and a chapter of a famous serial.”
The series will continue on Saturday, March 20 with “When Comedy Was King,” a feature-length film devoted to Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy and Keystone Kops, the great clowns of silent comedy, followed on Saturday, April 27 with the original “A Star is Born,” starring Janet Gaynor.
